LYF Update 4/19

Hello everyone! Here’s some info about everything coming up, including some long overdue Spring Retreat Details.

Spring Retreat
Our plan for the Spring Retreat is to meet at Laurel at 5:00 on Friday with the goal of leaving by 5:30 at the absolute latest. Students will need to eat before showing up, or bring a dinner they can cleanly eat on the bus. We won’t be serving dinner, but we will have hot dogs around the campfire later Friday evening. You can find the packing list by clicking here. Keep an eye on the forecast for Tellico Plains, TN and have your students pack for weather 12-15 degrees cooler than that. 

Our theme for the weekend is the Kingdom of Heaven. We will be spending the weekend discussing, meditating on, imagining, and hopefully experiencing the kind of world God wants to create through us… a Kingdom that was inaugurated by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus…a Kingdom that Jesus prayed would become a reality “on earth as it is in heaven.”

One Awesome Celebration

Our next Celebration event will be Sunday night 5/1 from 5pm-8pm. This upcoming Celebration will take the place of the event formerly dubbed “One Awesome Night.” We will be inviting the 4th and 5th grade students from Laurel’s children’s ministry to join us as we seek to give them a taste of what life in the youth group is like. We will also make a special effort to make sure these 4th and 5th graders feel warmly welcomed and know that we look forward to the day when they move up into the LYF Group.

We’ll spend some time in worship, dinner will be served, and we’ll play some of our favorite classic games.
