Eddy Smith

Eddy was chosen as an elder by the Laurel congregation in 2023. He and his wife Wendy met through a college ministry at Virginia Tech and were married in 1988. They served in college ministry in Tallahassee, FL and moved to Knoxville in 2000 for Eddy to pursue a law degree. Ed and Wendy have three adult children: Josh (works in the DC area), Annie (also works in the DC area), and Laurel (a student at the University of Akron). Eddy served on US Army active duty for two years after high school. He graduated from Virginia Tech (B.A. in Economics and Classics), Lipscomb University (M.A. in Religion), and the University of Tennessee College of Law (J.D.). He now serves as a lawyer. Eddy’s passion is for folks to understand how much God loves them.
